What is Vitamin E?
Vitamin E refers to a group of lipid-soluble compounds, of which α-tocopherol is the most biologically active form. Vitamin E is an important lipid-soluble antioxidant, which performs its functions as antioxidant in the sglutathione peroxidase pathway, and protects cell membranes from oxidation caused by free radicals. Fighting against the effects of free radicals derived from oxygen and environmental pollutions, vitamin E reduces the rate of free radical attack on the polyunsaturated fatty acids in membrane phospholipids and at other biologically important sites.

Natural vs . Synthetic
The vitamin E found in nature is commonly known as d-α-tocopherol or R ,R ,R -α-tocopherol (Figure 1). TheraPrimE™ natural-source vitamin E is d-α-tocopherol primarily derived from soybean oil. The succinate and acetate esters of natural-sourced α-tocopherol are also available.

Synthetic vitamin E (commonly referred to as dl-α-tocopherol), which is synthesized from petrochemicals, is a mixture of eight α-tocopherol stereoisomers in equal amounts. Only one of the eight stereoisomers, 12.5% of the total mixture, is the natural form R ,R ,R -α-tocopherol. The remaining seven stereoisomers have different molecular configurations, which affect how well the vitamin E is retained in the body and in turn affect its biological availability. Scientific studies have revealed significant differences between natural-source and synthetic vitamin E, and shown that naturalsource vitamin E is more efficiently retained by human body. The bioavailability of natural d-α-tocopherol is approximately twice than that of its synthetic counterpart. Simply put, the human body has a preference for natural-source vitamin E over synthetic vitamin E

TheraPrimE™ – Solution of Your Natural VE Formulations
BGG’s TheraPrimE™ natural-source vitamin E products parallel the vitamin E found in our mother nature. They are available either as d-α-tocopherol or a mixture of all four d-isomers of natural tocopherols (α-, β-, γ-, δ-). Using proprietary technology, BGG is dedicated to providing natural-source products for customers worldwide. You can be assured that BGG produces only the highest quality natural-source vitamin E.
