What is Vitamin K2?
Vitamin K2 is a sub-group of vitamin K family which can be subdivided into vitamin K1, vitamin K2 and vitamin K3. Vitamin K2 consists a series of structures known as menaquinones, abbreviated with MK-x (Figure 1). Beyond its well-known role in blood clotting, recent research has revealed that vitamin K, specifically vitamin K2, also plays a vital role in maintaining healthy bones and arteries by keeping calcium in the bones and out of arteries.

TheraQ7™ – High Potency Vitamin K2 (MK-7)
While vitamin K1 can be largely obtained from leafy greens and some other vegetables, vitamin K2 naturally occurs in much smaller quantities in the diet. Organ meats, egg yolks, and the Japanese condiment natto, are sources of vitamin K2. Natto is by far the richest source of the highly bioavailable form of vitamin K2 known as MK-7. Natto is the fermented soy bean which is commonly consumed in Japan. The fermented beans are recognized for their contribution to gut flora and vitamin K2 intake. The principle active component of natto is Bacillus subtilis natto, a bacterium capable of biosynthesis of vitamin K2 (primarily in MK-7 form) in high yield. The Bacillus subtilis strain used to produce TheraQ7™ is carefully selected and cultivated by advanced biological technology to ensure the species is pure, safe, active, and high productive. By utilizing the proprietary organic solvent free extraction and concentration technologies, TheraQ7™ is produced without pollution and solvent residues, and of high potency of vitamin K2 (MK-7).

Protecting Bone and Arterial Health with TheraQ7™
Insufficient vitamin K2 leads to decreased bone mineral density, a key factor in osteoporosis, and an excess of calcium in the arterial wall, which increases the risk of heart disease. In certain regions of Japan, a staple dish called natto or fermented soybean, frequently eaten several times a week, is uniquely rich in vitamin K2. Recent scientific examination has pinpointed vitamin K2, and in particular vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), as the active ingredient in this popular eastern Japanese dish, has a supportive effect on bone quality during osteoporosis treatment. People living in the Japanese regions where this dish is eaten have several-fold greater blood levels of vitamin K2 (MK-7), accompanied by less osteoporosis and bone fractures. Scientific studies has revealed that vitamin K2 supplementation
